On March 9, the exhibition “Storie Dall’Altro Mondo” – Stories from Another World – opened in Pisa at the Blue Palace (Palazzo Blu), an elegant house on the banks of the Arno that has been converted into a public exhibition space.
Fr George Coyne, S.J. joins the faculty of Le Moyne College in Syracuse as their first Religious Philosophy chairman. Coyne’s arrival comes at a time of exceptional student interest in the natural sciences and allied health fields at Le Moyne. Opening this month, its new science complex will house the physical, life and health sciences.
"We saw his star in the east". On the feast of Epiphany, Fr James Hanvey SJ travels to the Pope's summer palace outside Rome, home to the Vatican Space Observatory, to explore how God can speak through space and science. Preacher: Dr Guy Consolmagno SJ, Chair of the Division for Planetary Sciences of the American Astronomical Society and planetary scientist at the Vatican Observatory.

"On Saturday December 10, Fr. Paul Mueller S.J. participated in the scientific symposium "Padre Ruđer Josip Bošković: cultore della verità", in honor of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Roger Joseph Boscovich S.J., the famous Croatian Jesuit scientist, philosopher, mathematician, astronomer, and diplomat.

What was the Christmas Star? Was it a comet, a novae, a supernovae or a grouping of planets? Astronomer, Fr Christopher Corbally, from the Vatican Observatory in Arizona, explores several theories.
It is approaching Christmas, so watchers of the statue of Padre Kino on Kino Boulevard in Tucson will be looking for the red earmuffs. These have been appearing on the horse’s ears as a kindly seasonal gesture against the desert night’s cold. Further along the left side of the horse, resting on Kino’s saddlebag, you will notice a round instrument with what looks like a cross spanning its diameter. This is an astrolabe, or an earlier version of a sextant, and it was used for measuring the positions of celestial objects.
How does religion work in a culture shaped by science and technology? How do scientists and engineers practice their religions? How in particular does a Jesuit brother, and an MIT graduate with a PhD in planetary science, make sense of his Catholicism? Brother Guy Consolmagno, S.J. addressed these issues in his presentation of God’s Mechanics to approximately 100 on the Google campus in California.
A 1300-page final report for the International Year of Astronomy 2009 was released at the European Week of Astronomy and Space Science in Lisbon, Portugal. The report shows that at least 815 million people in 148 countries participated in the world’s largest science event in decades.
