2023 Sieur du Lhut Creativity Conference – Communicating Science in Changing Times

Presented by the UMD Chancellor’s Office, and the Research, Scholarships and Creative Activities subcommittee. Generous support for this conference was provided by the Richard Paul Teske Sieur du Lhut Conference Fund.

This year’s theme is communicating science in changing times with renowned science communicators Brother Guy Consolmagno SJ and Jad Abumrad.

Brother Guy Consolmagno SJ is the Director of the Vatican Observatory and President of the Vatican Observatory Foundation. He earned his degrees from MIT and a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona. He was a postdoc research fellow at Harvard and MIT, served in the Peace Corps, and taught university physics before entering the Jesuits in 1989.

Jad Abumrad is the creator and former host of Radiolab, a public radio program broadcast on nearly 600 stations nationwide and downloaded more than 12 million times a month as a podcast. He hosts Everything. Together.
