Artificial Intelligence: Friend or Foe? A Conversation With Dr. Gan About AI and Faith

Below is an online conversation I had with an old friend… Who just happens to have done professional work with Artificial Intelligence. Yes, I have some very unique friends. Enjoy the conversation!

One clarification from the conversation. Dr. Gan reflected toward the end on how science seeks to arrive at a singularity, but will always struggle to do so. I affirmed his assessment, but my mind got ahead of my words. I shared a reflection on how the nature of science clearly states that things like God and the transcendent are not in the scope of science. A missing link to that transition was Gödel’s incompleteness theorem that states that a “TOE” or a theory of everything is impossible due to the very nature of science. Click here to read my piece on Stanley Jaki for more information.

I also make reference to some of Dr. Gan’s writings in the video. Here are the links if you are interested.

Enjoy!

Happy Valentine’s Day! I offer our romantic types this Rosette! It’s a stack of 120, 15 second 7nm H-alpha narrowband images from my Dwarf II! More about this smart telescope in the weeks to come!
