Join us Thursday August 11th for our the next Full Moon-th Meetup where we’ll chat with Katie Steinke -former development director and current board member of the Vatican Observatory Foundation.
We’ll also have the latest news of the Vatican Advanced Technology Telescope*.
This meetup is a perk for our Sacred Space Astronomy subscribers: on Thursday August 11th, we’ll be holding our regularly scheduled on-line meetup where you get to chat with each other, and astronomers and scientists from the Vatican Observatory!
It was over 40 years ago while living in Italy that Katie first met the Jesuit astronomers of the Specola Vaticana. Due to the friendships that developed, especially with Fr. George Coyne, her family became financially involved in the construction of the Vatican Advanced Technology Telescope (VATT). Decades later Katie became the first Development Director of the Vatican Observatory Foundation, a position she held for 10 years until her retirement in 2018.
Currently living in Pasadena, Katie is now a member of the Board of Directors of the Vatican Observatory Foundation, and volunteers frequently at nearby Mount Wilson Observatory.
When? Thursday, August 11th: Rain or shine
What time? These meetups will happen around lunch time in North America: in particular, 10:00 am Tucson time, which is 1:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time.
