Join us on Thursday, October 17th for our next Full Moon-th Meetup! Our guest will be Fr. Jacek Olczyk, S.J., a Jesuit priest who has joined us in Castel Gandolfo from the North Poland province. He will be doing administrative and outreach work with the Specola, acting as minister of the community and assistant to the Director. As such he’ll be taking a load off the shoulders of our community superior, Fr. Richard D’Souza SJ, and the Observatory’s vice director, Fr. Gabriele Gionti SJ; in this way he frees up Richard and Gabriele to spend more time with their science.

Our tradition of hosting online meetups with our Sacred Space Astronomy members and the Vatican Observatory staff, scholars and friends during the Full Moon in Tucson (or thereabout) continues on Thursday October 17th at 12:00 Noon ET (9:00 AM Tucson time). This meetup is a perk for our Sacred Space Astronomy subscribers- you get to chat with each other, and astronomers and scientists from the Vatican Observatory!
We’ll also have the latest astronomy news and an update about the Vatican Advanced Technology Telescope1.
Fr. Jacek Olczyk S.J. was born and raised in Lodz. He joined the Jesuits after receiving his degrees Lodz University of Technology.
After studies both in Poland and Rome, he was ordained in Warsaw in 2013. Since then he’s held a number of chaplaincy and administrative posts, such as Director of the Evangelization Center “Mocni w Duchu” in Lodz, Poland.
