Vatican Observatory astronomers Fr. Gabriele Gionti SJ and Fr. Matteo Galaverni have been awarded the “Fabula” prize for their “new mathematical understanding of the first moments of the Universe”.
“Fabula” — the Italian word means “fable” — is a cultural event organised in Bellizzi, Italy, where young people between the age of 9 to 20 participate in a national competition to write a “fable” with a moral.
A national committee chooses the best stories and invites the awardees to a week of cultural activities. During this week, people from the world of the entertainment, culture and art are invited to join them; this year, Fathers Gionti and Galaverni will be awarded a special “Fabula Prize.”
