King’s Cross in London is hosting a free outdoor exhibition of Where I Work, an award-winning photography feature from the journal Nature. The exhibition celebrates the many roles and types of research done by scientists globally, and challenging the stereotypes of what scientists look like.
The selection of the portraits includes this fantastic photo of Br. Guy Consolmagno looking through one of the Vatican Observatory’s historic telescopes.
Nature’s immersive “Where I Work” website includes images from the exhibition, with scientists from all different fields of study, and links to each of their stories. This image of Br. Guy is part of the exhibition, and his story links to an article from October 2021, Serving science and the Church as the Pope’s astronomer. In this article, Br. Guy discusses a bit of his history, and that of the Vatican Observatory. The article concludes with “Looking at the moons of Jupiter or a distant galaxy gives me joy. To me, that joy is the presence of God.”
