Several members of the Vatican Observatory Foundation will be speaking at a 4-day “Faith and Science” retreat. The retreat will be hosted at the Mother of the Redeemer Retreat center in Bloomington, Indiana from April 5-8th – culminating with the Total Solar Eclipse!

More than just a chance to see the eclipse, this event will provide a chance to turn this into a mini-retreat, of a sort that the attendees of our Astronomy for Catholics in Ministry and Education can well appreciate. (But… it is, also, a great chance to see the eclipse!)

Remember this eclipse? Claudio Costa, who works with the Vatican Observatory in Castel Gandolfo, made this montage of various exposures that he took from Montana in 2017…

Available seats for this retreat are going fast! If you are interested in attending, register soon! (A phone call to the number on the form, to check on availability, is advised.)

Highlights Include:

  • Br. Guy Consolmagno, S.J. – “Your God is too small” and “The Heavens Proclaim: Astronomy and the Vatican”
  • Mr. Christopher Graney – “The Church & Astronomy: Forgotten Stories”
  • Dr. Brenda Frye – “Where Faith & Science Can Meet” and “Updates from the The James Webb Space Telescope”
